Each summer, children from the tri-state area come to Trail Blazers for two or more weeks to experience a unique life experience in which they engage in a variety of adventure-based activities using our 1000 acre property that promote respect and curiosity for the environment, self-confidence, empathy, peaceful conflict resolution, team building, communication, and a love of learning. Under One Sky (UOS) works to build an understanding of the “environment” to include everywhere we live, work, and play. This program helps campers take their personal connection to the outdoors and translate it into practical meaning for their urban lives. UOS participants engage through a leadership program element at camp during the summer as well as year round- through a series of monthly workshops, after school sessions and school curriculum. Trail Blazers offers a day program for families in the Sussex County area. Our exciting hand on program helps kids develop a sense of wonder towards the natural world while making friends and getting a chance to play in a constructive and nurturing environment. With unique programs focusing on different environmental and developmental themes, children participate in a variety for activities such as swimming, nature crafts, games, hikes, and environmental education. During the winter and spring, over the school holiday breaks, overnight and day programs will be offered for campers to reconnect with friends from the summer, get a taste of what Trail Blazers is about and experience the outdoors in a different season. Some activities might include snow hikes, team building games, nature scavenger hunts, and more. Of course, there will be s’mores roasted over a campfire! (All activities are weather permitting.) Brooklyn Boulders Indoor Climbing Gym and Trail Blazers bring the best of Brooklyn climbing together with the best of outdoor adventure. A week-long climbing adventure begins with a day of fundamentals climbing skills taught at Brooklyn Boulders, followed by a trip to Trail Blazers to prepare for a hiking and climbing adventure in Allamuchy State Park. Participants will camp out and put their newly acquired climbing skills to the test on various natural rock.
